Every year, under the full moon, Chiang Mai comes alive with two of Thailand's most remarkable celebrations: Loy Krathong and Yi Peng festival
While Loy Krathong is celebrated across Thailand, with people releasing small floating offerings decorated with flowers and candles onto the water, Yi Peng is deeply rooted in the traditions of the ancient Lanna kingdom. During these celebrations, lanterns illuminate temples and streets, while others rise into the night sky.
Beyond their spectacular beauty, these festivals carry generations of beliefs and traditions, symbolizing gratitude, renewal, and the act of letting go.
